Amy Poehler, Nick Kroll, Mitch Hurwitz to be honored at Just For Laughs in Montreal

Screen shot 2013-06-14 at 9.38.05 AMMost recently known for her brilliance on the NBC Parks and Recreation, Amy Poehler has been announced as the recipient of the Comedy Person of the Year prize at this year’s Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal. The prize is well deserved for one of the most talent and versatile females in the industry. Since her start on the Upright Citizens Brigade and then her explosion onto the scene as a regular on Saturday Night Live, Poehler has continued to prove herself as an gifted writer, actress and producer. Chelsea Handler and Louis C.K. were previous winners in this category. Awards will also go to Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwtiz for Comedy Writer of the Year, UK filmmaker Edgar Wright for Comedy Director of the Year, and Nick Kroll for Breakout Comedy Star of the Year. Kroll, of course, is responsible for the creation of Comedy Central’s sketch series Kroll Show, which will return for a second season later this year.

All prizes will be handed out during the ComedyPro conference portion of the festival on July 26 with comedian Jeff Ross serving as host of the ceremony. To purchase tickets for the festival and the ComedyPro conference, go to the Just For Laughs official site.
