Amy Poehler has become a producing powerhouse with her newest project about one woman and her new church. As Parks and Recreation comes to a close after its next and final season, Poehler will develop a single-camera workplace comedy with Parks and Recreation co-executive producer Aisha Muharrar. The series would revolve around a young, agnostic woman who inherits a church and the devoted characters who make up her congregation. Poehler will executive produce with Muharrar.
This is the second show the UCB alum has developed under her three-year deal with NBC’s Universal TV. She created a popular pilot Old Soul starring Natasha Lyonne last season, but it was not greenlighted to series. In addition to her work with NBC, she is executive producing Billy Eichner’s pilot presentation for USA Network about frustrated comedians called Difficult People. If she weren’t busy enough, she reunited for a comedy movie The Nest with friend Tina Fey. Oh right, and her first book, Yes Please, comes out at the end of the month. Midterm elections are coming up, so maybe she could do that too. We’d vote for her.
