• Arrested Development starts production: photos, Workaholics and more!

Arrested Development began filming for its 10-episode season on Netflix this past week and the main cast– Jeffrey Tambor, Portia de Rossi, David Cross, Jessica Walter, Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Alia Shawkat and Tony Hale are all expected to return! And, naturally, Ron Howard, producer of the show, will narrate. One major twist is that each of the new episodes will highlight a single member of the Bluth family, with some episodes featuring multiple members. It will be interesting to see how this plot structure will alter the show, if at all.

Although the new season will serve as a bridge between the last season which ended in 2006, Mitch Hurwitz, creator and producer of the show has said that if the new season is successful there may be room for more episodes before the movie (which is also officially happening). Netflix will launch all 10 episodes of Arrested Development at once, sometime in 2013.

And since nobody can wait for the new season, it seems that a few spirited fans have taken to lovingly stalking the cast and crew. As huge Arrested Development fans, we’re thankful for that. Buzzfeed has a set of high quality photographs from the new set and they’ve been kind enough to share it with the Internet. The best of the bunch includes David Cross looking like a hard boiled giant egg, draped in a white towel. We’ve dropped a  few below.

Bateman also tweeted a photo of the first day of shooting where the cast of Workaholics were spotted — not randomly — it sounds like they’ll be in at least one episode, although their roles on the show have not been reported.

Anyway, we’re certain we’ll have more Arrested Development tidbits to share up until the show’s official release. So stay tuned!
