• Aziz Ansari, Will Arnett, Ed Helms, more join for Malaria No More viral video campaign

Aziz AnsariWe’ve heard of celebrities banding together before in support of a common cause, most notably perhaps with “We Are the World” and its remake for the Haiti disaster. Now a select group of comedians and actors have added their talents to the Malaria No More campaign, which seeks to eradicate the terrible, but very preventable and treatable, disease by 2015.

Among those involved are Aziz Ansari, Will Arnett, Lake Bell, Orlando Bloom, Elizabeth Banks, Ted Danson, Lisa Edelstein, Sarah Gilbert, Elliott Gould, Josh Groban, Rachael Harris, Ed Helms, Rob Huebel, Ellie Kemper, Nick Kroll, Natasha Leggero, Riki Lindhome, John Mayer, B.J. Novak, Jeremy Piven, Jeff Probst, Rob Riggle, Paul Scheer, Jason Schwartzman, and Scott Wolf.

Malaria No More CEO Scott Case explains the concept behind the new approach, “Malaria No More constantly looks for new ways to get people to sit up and pay attention to a disease that needlessly kills more than 2,000 children every day. Comedy Fights Malaria brings that message home in an entirely new way that will amuse and shock people into taking action against the disease.”

Through web videos, PSAs, and character sketches filmed on-location in Senegal, West Africa, the primary focus is entertainment, with the underlying purpose of malaria education in order to encourage viewers to take action.

Indeed, there are many ways to help the cause, including a simple $10 donation that provides one mosquito net to prevent the spread of malaria. For more information, including additional ways to help, visit their website at malarianomore.org. You can also follow the cause on Twitter and Facebook for updates on new comedy content.
