Ben Stein has never been shy about his conservative views. But the actor/comedian’s latest comments were shocking by even his standards. Stein accused Barack Obama of being the most racist American president ever.
“The president is the most racist president there has ever been in America,” Ben Stein said of Barack Obama during a Fox News interview. “He is purposely trying to use race to divide Americans.”
Specifically, Ben Stein accused Barack Obama and the rest of his administration of turning African-Americans against Republicans. Stein believes Democrats falsely accused Republicans of being racist in order to turn the electorate against the GOP.
“What the White House is trying to do is racialize all politics and they’re especially trying to tell the Africa-American voter that the GOP is against letting them have a chance at a good life in this economy, and that’s just a complete lie,” Ben Stein continued in his rant against Barack Obama.
Ben Stein then added: “I watch with fascination — with incredible fascination — all the stories about how the Democratic politicians, especially Hillary [Clinton], are trying to whip up the African-American vote and say, ‘Oh, the Republicans have policies against black people in terms of the economy.’ But there are no such policies.”
Watch Ben Stein call Barack Obama a racist on Fox News.
Indeed, Democrats have tried to turn African-Americans against the GOP before the upcoming midterm elections. Just a few days before Ben Stein made his remarks on Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden told black clergy that Republicans discourage African-Americans from voting. Biden specifically cited strict voter ID laws passed in red states, which opponents view as a way to prevent minorities from casting ballots.
Still, there have been plenty of other openly racist American presidents. According to Vanity Fair, 12 different presidents own African-American slaves at one point in their lives. More recently, Richard Nixon made shocking remarks about both Jews and blacks while in the White House (the Nixon Presidential Library released the audio tapes of these comments back in 2010). Even Lyndon Johnson, who championed civil rights, often used the n-word in conversation with other politicians. So it’s quite shocking that Ben Stein thinks Barack Obama is more racist than these former leaders.
