Comedian Bill Burr may finally get his own successful television show after all. FX Networks has ordered a pilot for Pariah starring the You People Are All The Same comic. Co-created by John and Dave Chernin (It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia), Pariah is about a volatile TV personality Joe Abbott (Burr) who, afer an on-air meltdown, is shunned by show business and is tossed back into civilian life with no real applicable job skills. Burr, who got to show off his acting chops on AMC’s Emmy Award-winning series Breaking Bad, also has a new hour-long stand-up special premiering on Netflix in December called I’m Sorry You Feel That Way. “Bill Burr is a great comedy talent,” said FX exec Nick Grad. “Teaming Bill with Rob [McElhenney], Charlie [Day] and Glenn [Howerton], along with John and Dave is a perfect recipe for a terrific comedy pilot.”
The premise of the show sounds like it may have been born from Burr’s “Jimmy The Greek” bit heard on his 2008 album Why Do I Do This? Check out the audio below.
Yesterday, Burr released Live At Andrew’s House on vinyl. The stand-up album captures his historic 2011 performance at Carnegie Hall.
Let’s celebrate this Burr news by checking out a clip of the man on Conan from last night. Enjoy!
