Bill Murray is coming to the small screen after being cast in HBO’s upcoming miniseries Olive Kitteridge. Based on Elizabeth Strout’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, the miniseries tells the story of a seemingly boring New England town that is hiding illicit affairs, crime and tragedy. Murray will play local widower Jack Kennison, a man whom the main character Kitteridge befriends.
Fans of Murray will not have to wait until Olive Kitteridge finishes production to see the Caddyshack actor on screen, however. He appeared as Senator Vernon Smits in the first episode of Amazon’s Alpha House and will appear in several films in 2014: The Monuments Men (Feb 7), Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel (Mar 7) and St. Vincent De Van Nuys (Apr 11).
