BoJack Horseman’s first five seasons have been met with much critical acclaim—the fifth season currently holds a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and an audience score of 94%. The show follows the titular character, played by Will Arnett, as he navigates the entertainment industry, stardom, and addiction. The show has dark themes, but the fantastical world of cartoon animals and pun-based humor keeps the show toeing the fine line between comedy and tragedy.
Arnett is joined by an all-star cast that includes Aaron Paul, Amy Sedaris, Alison Brie, and Paul F. Tompkins.
Four months ago, Comedy Central obtained the rerun rights to BoJack Horseman in a rare deal for streaming service content. Netflix has invested in adult animated shows since the early success of BoJack. The rapidly growing list of ‘mature’ cartoons include Paradise PD, Disenchantment, F is for Family, and Big Mouth. The company has also been quietly releasing original anime series. Netflix will add two more animated adult comedies—Hoops and Tuca & Bertie—later this year. While neither show has a release date, Hoops will feature Jake Johnson of New Girl fame. Tuca and Bertie comes from the same creative team as BoJack and will star the voices of Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong.
There is no release date for BoJack Horseman season 6, but their Twitter account has confirmed that they will be returning with a joke about an edible arrangement:
