• ‘Burning Love’ (and Ken Marino’s hose) is here: watch the first three episodes!

I asked myself a plethora of questions while screening the first several episodes of Burning Love, a new web series starring Ken Marino, Michael Ian Black (as host Bill Tundle), Natasha Leggero, Kristen Bell, Ben Stiller, Adam Scott, and…. My mouth is getting dry from listing all the names, and I’m not even saying them aloud.

Have reality dating shows like The Bachelor, the satirical target, devolved so far as to be reflected back in a riotous but scarily accurate way? How many of this colorful cast are based on real contestants? Why does Ken Jeong have nicer arms than me?

The answers aren’t obvious, but ultimately, who cares when the ride is this fun? Voyeuristically, we observe bachelor firefighter Mark Orlando try out 16 outrageously scripted women, from Bell’s married-to-Jesus preppy blonde to Agnes, a woman exactly as octogenarian as her name sounds. I don’t really follow reality television or the broadcasted dating meat market, but from what I can glean, the crew working here has gotten the whole thing down to the censor bleeps over naughty words (OK for the ‘net, but oh so no-no on the networks. Great attention to detail, I’m impressed!) Plus, it’s a real treat to watch all these names and soon-to-be-names – keep your eye on Malin Ackerman and Beth Dover – mingle talents to create hilarious gold, kinda like when a bunch of rare constellations are all viewable on the same night and hemisphere or something.

Premiering today on Yahoo’s Comedy Channel, Burning Love — written by Marino’s wife Erica Oyama (Childrens Hospital) — pokes tremendous fun at a trashy, self-important genre, but more further to the point, it also represents one of the best of a bunch in a Millennial-specific trend of bite-sized Internet comedy. Will we accept Mark’s hose? Yes, ladies (and gentlemen watching at home): take the hose.

Watch the first three episodes below!

You should also check out the official Burning Love site, which features tons of extras, including bios on each of the contestants!
