It seems comedy nerds weren’t the only ones watching Burning Love, Ken Marino and wife Erica Oyama’s Bachelor parody series that ran on Yahoo! Screen earlier this year. It’s been renewed for not one, but two more seasons!
The second season will parody The Bachelorette and will find former broken-hearted Burning Love contestant Julie Gristlewhite (played brilliantly by June Diane Raphael, who’s married to Paul Scheer) as the target of many would-be suitors’ attention. In the last few years Raphael (pictured) has established herself as a versatile actress, playing roles on cult favorites like the Adult Swim series NTSF:SD:SUV as well as more mainstream fare like New Girl and Animal Practice. She’ll also be seen in Kristen Wiig’s film Imogene when it’s released wide next year.
For the time being, her Julie will have plenty of men to choose from on Burning Love‘s season two. Check out this amazing list of comedy favorites cast as contestants: Adam Scott, Paul Scheer, Joe Lo Truglio, Rob Huebel, Jerry O’Connell, Adam Brody, Michael Cera, Colin Hanks, Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen, Nick Kroll, Kumail Nanjiani, Nick Thune and Brandon Johnson. And Michael Ian Black will return as host Bill Tundle!
In the third installment, titled Burning Down the House, Marino and Oyama took a different approach. “The difference between Burning Love and Burning Down the House is, we strip away the love and make it solely about the money,” Marino tells Entertainment Weekly. “Everybody’s there competing for the huge prize of $900. Everybody has great plans if they win.”
Producer Marino, who played the bachelor, fireman Mark Orlando on the original Burning Love, will not appear on season two, though he promises many cast members from both seasons one and two will return for Burning Down the House.
