Chelsea Handler more powerful than Heidi Klum, Rachel Maddow, your mom

Chelsea HandlerComedian Chelsea Handler is powerful. Like, it’s official now.

Forbes just named her as one of the ‘100 Most Powerful Women.’ To be exact, she’s the 33rd most powerful, which means she’s not nearly as powerful as Michelle Obama or Oprah Winfrey, but she does power over folks like Heidi Klum and Rachel Maddow. At 35, Handler also made Forbes‘ list of top-earning stand-up comics coming in fourth just behind Jeff Dunham, Dane Cook, and Terry Fator, as she made $19 million in 2009.

In a world of comedy where men still seem to reign supreme, Handler has made an impression by being one of two women to host a late night talk show. Amongst writing three New York Times bestsellers and hosting E!’s Chelsea Lately the late night host still tours around the country doing stand-up. Don’t be surprised to hear that her earnings for stand-up were more than double her income from Chelsea Lately.

The latest MTV Video Music Awards hostess is an incredibly hard-working comedienne, filming “Chelsea Lately” throughout the week, then traveling nearly every weekend to perform in theaters and arenas around the country.

In a recent Forbes interview, Chelsea Handler claimed “there are more funny women than ever” and thinks it’s only a matter of time before there are more ladies on late-night. “There should be more,” says Handler. “I don’t want to be the only female late-night host, so I’m hoping more women will join me.”
