Comedian Ross Noble is a vengeful clown in comedy horror flick ‘Stitches’ (Video)

When Paul Provenza tweets a link to something, I usually click on it. Why? Well, because if you know about comedy, you know that the dude is more than a comedian— he’s a champion for the art form and a writer, producer and, perhaps most valuable to me, he’s an American who shines a light on comedians doing cool shit in other countries. Hence, the reason I’m posting the trailer for what looks like an amazingly entertaining movie.

Starring British comedian Ross Noble, Stitches seems like an incredibly dark comedy (think Bobcat Goldthwait’s best works, especially Shakes the Clown but with a lot more blood) centered around a man who makes his living entertaining children. Here’s the official description, so I don’t fuck up the flavor of thing:

Jaded Richard Grindle is the sleaziest clown working the children’s party circuit in Ireland. Arriving late to one birthday, his timing is off, the bratty kids a nightmare and a prank goes horribly wrong – he falls on a kitchen knife and goes to that Big Top in the sky. Years later the same nasty kids attend another more grown up bash. Little do they know, thanks to a black magic clown cult, Stitches will be the uninvited guest of honour seeking revenge on those responsible for his untimely death. Ross Noble plays Richard ‘Stitches’ Grindle, a clown who returns from the dead to seek revenge upon those who caused his untimely demise.

Sadly, it’s only our friends in the UK who can peep the new flick, though it did have a run in New York City last month. But I’m sure, through the magic of Netflix or Amazon or iTunes or whatever, we’ll get a crack at it in the coming months. You can learn more about Noble and the film at his official website and at
