I think it’s safe to say that all most comedians ever want to do is tell jokes and make people laugh. But all too often, some wise-ass decides that he or she wants to get involved and steal the spotlight. We call these miserable low lives that needed more hugs growing up hecklers. And when a heckler decides to act up and interrupt the show, many a comedian decide to leave the venue’s security team out of it and to give said audience member their own personal verbal spanking. This is a list of some of our favorite heckler takedowns.
Joe Rogan Smacks Down UFC Fan:
There are several quality videos of the former and now current Fear Factor host handling unruly audience members. Rogan generally invites it since he does Q&A a lot at the end of a lot of his shows, but this time it was a drunk who took off his silly t-shirt to show his embarrassing tattoos that got Joe Rogan pissed off.
Jimmy Carr Talks Mothers:
Master joke writer Jimmy Carr remains completely calm when a heckler brings up having sex with his mom during the taping of one of his comedy specials. The British comedian made it seem effortless when he completely annihilated both the man and the man’s mother in front of hundreds of people.
Jamie Kennedy Rips ‘Server’
Jamie Kennedy is filming his stand-up special Unwashed when a woman in the audience interrupts the taping to correct his diction, informing him that insecure waitresses prefer to be called “servers”. What’s the catch? This woman’s not even a ‘server’; she’s a nanny. Check out how Jamie demolishes her.
Joe Klocek Invites Heckler On Stage:
A comedian’s power lies not just in his/her witty comebacks but also in having a microphone. Joe Klocek dealt with a drunk man that demanded the microphone by bringing him right up on stage with him. Watch as the heckler becomes the heckled. Sweet justice.
Bill Hicks Loses It on Female Audience Member:
The late Bill Hicks can be seen in this infamous clip kicking out a woman being loud during his performance. This took place towards the latter end of Hicks’s career and we see what happens when a heckler pisses off the wrong comic.
Bill Burr vs. Philadelphia
The best heckle battle of all time is hands down Bill Burr’s rant in Philadelphia on Opie and Anthony’s Traveling Virus tour. The entire audience is booing him in the beginning of his set and by the end, they lovingly hate him as they cheer on his incredible handling of the situation. Burr manages to rip into every sports team the city of Brotherly Love has to offer, as he counts down each remaining minute of his set. Burr takes a stand and decides to stick it to the unruly mob instead of cowering and pandering. Check it out.
