• Comedy Central’s Key & Peele’s Peabody Award is well deserved

Key and Peele win Peabody AwardKey & Peele join the ranks of other Comedy Central shows The Daily Show and The Colbert Report as a Peabody Award winner. The socially relevant sketch comedy show, created by stars Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, was one of 46 programs awarded the George Foster Peabody Award which recognizes radio and television programs for “distinguished and meritorious public service.” Their sketch series has tackled race relations on many occasions in a thought-provoking way, always offering a surprising twist on a common cultural criticism. The series has received both critical and popular support, solidified by its Peabody, earning it a quick fourth season pick-up from Comedy Central last fall. Key & Peele has quickly become the network’s more light-hearted replacement for Chappelle’s Show since the comedian left his show in the middle of his third season. Luckily, it doesn’t seem like Key or Peele will be making a surprise escape to South Africa any time soon– unless it’s for a hilarious sketch idea!
