• Comedy fundraiser held for convicted Amanda Knox

Amanda KnoxAll over the US, vigils and rallies of support continue to be held in honor of Amanda Knox, the 22-year-old Seattle student who was, on Dec. 4, convicted of the first degree murder of her British flatmate, Meredith Kercher, while the two were studying abroad in Perugia, Italy.

Despite the conviction, many continue to believe that Knox has been wrongly accused and unfairly tried, and Knox’s supporters turned out in Seattle at the Comedy Underground last night for a comedy fundraiser, with proceeds going to Knox’s appeal and legal fees.

Approximately 90 people attended the fundraiser, and Knox’s family stated that they were comforted by the lighthearted atmosphere of the evening. Although a variety of topics were skewered and lampooned by the comedians, none directly addressed Knox, the trial, or the conviction.
