Conan O’Brien’s Team Coco and TBS are bringing TEAMCOCOHOUSE to this year’s 15th Annual New York Comedy Festival, a few months after premiering their hit pop-up comedy club at the San Diego Comic-Con this past July. Starting November 7 at Sony Hall, TEAMCOCOHOUSE will feature three days of stand-ups, podcasts, musical acts, magicians, and more all hand-picked by Conan O’Brien himself. Big names include Tig Notaro, Craig Robinson, Chris Gethard, and Sasheer Zamata. The Conan host will also make an appearance and bring along some surprise special guests.
The pop-up comes on the heels of the recently announced live tour Conan & Friends: An Evening of Stand-Up and Investment Tips. “There are a lot of exciting changes coming up for me in 2019 and I wanted to kick it off this fall with an 18-city live tour,” Conan said. “The idea that I hit the road for seven weeks was pitched by my wife, with the full backing of my children.” Sarcasm, we’re sure.
The tour launches on November 2 at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C. and wraps December 15 at The Masonic in San Francisco. Headliners include Rory Scovel, Deon Cole, Laurie Kilmartin, Taylor Tomlinson, and Marina Franklin.
One of those big changes for Conan in 2019 will be a shift from an hour-long show to a new 30-minute format that will feature a new set, less celebrity interviews, more road appearances, and overall less structure. “At this stage in my career I’d like to do much more of the stuff I love and am passionate about,” O’Brien said. “That seems to resonate with my fans who are online, less of this format I inherited because that’s what I was handed in 1993.”
