• D.L. Hughley lands his own radio show, looking to ‘singe the envelope’

Veteran comedian D.L. Hughley has landed a deal to host his own syndicated radio show. Simply titled The D.L. Hughley Show, the program will air live every day from 3 to 7 pm ET and will be distrubted by Reach Media, which services more than 12 million listeners. “I’m very excited to get back to radio and it couldn’t have come at a better time,” Hughley says. “I think radio fits my sensibility. I want to be fast, I want to be funny, I want to be topical. I want to make people laugh a lot and think a little. Some people want to push the envelope – I want to see if I can singe it a little.” An official launch date has yet to be announced.

While producers are describing the show as a “daily themed, music intensive” program, personally, I hope the show finds Hughley talking as much as humanly possible. He’s proven with his new book – titled I Want You to Shut the Fuck Up: How the Audacity of Dopes is Ruining America – and his appearances on other radio shows (listen to his outstanding interview on The Michael Smerconish Program below), he’s a man with a strong point of view and incredibly intelligent and insightful opinions on politics, race, relationships and beyond. Earlier this year, he even snagged himself a Peabody award for his satirical documentary on race, The Endangered List, which aired on Comedy Central.
