D.L. Hughley suing nightclub for $1.1 million

D.L. HughleyWe see it all the time – celebrities being billed to host or make an appearance at a trendy nightclub. Sometimes they show up and sometimes they don’t. But most of the time, the celebrities at least know they’re supposed to be there.

Not D.L. Hughley. The comedian was being promoted by D.C. nightclub Zanzibar last Friday without his knowledge, something that irked the star of The Original Kings of Comedy.

According to Hughley’s attorney, “he was most upset that people were calling him, asking why he flaked on them.” This prompted Hughley to file a $1.1 million lawsuit this week, alleging fraud, invasion of privacy and misappropriation of his name and likeness.

Along with radio ads, the “Free Fall Friday” promotion the club put out featured a picture of Hughley and his name as the headliner, with two other guests listed as well. (ed. note: The moron who made the poster, also managed to spell comedian Sommore and George Wilburn’s names wrong as well).

Hughley had been in town to bring the laughs and perform stand-up at the Equestrian Center. For his next performance, it looks like he’ll be laughing all the way to the bank.
