Comedians Jessica Williams (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart) and Phoebe Robinson (Last Comic Standing) are giving a reality check to a new Lifetime reality show Girlfriend Intervention. Girlfriend Intervention matches four “fairy blackmothers” up with white women to help them discover their “strong, inner black woman.” Exploring some of the ideas the show brings up, Williams and Robinson set out to help out those “basic bitches” not blessed with the “opportunity” to generalize a race on national television. The comedians went to New York City’s Union Square, because “Where better to find a [white woman] than in a public park?” Williams posed.
Jessica Williams is a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and had a recurring role on Season 3 of HBO’s Girls. Phoebe Robinson is a New York City-based stand-up comic and staff writer for MTV’s Girl Code. From rapping to booty-popping, these ladies show what can be, um, learned from Lifetime’s Girlfriend Intervention. Check it out!
