• Donald Glover and Emmy winning 30 Rock producer are developing a comedy series for NBC

One half of comedy’s favorite television nerd bromance (Troy + Abed), Donald Glover, is producing a comedy series for NBC! It seems Glover — also known as Childish Gambino in the hip-hop world — is busying himself outside of the stand-up comedy world and playing Troy on Community. He’s joined forces with Emmy-winning 30 Rock writer and co-executive producer Matt Hubbard to develop a semi-autobiographical show in which he would also star.

“NBC is said to be committed to the project, and is close to sealing a deal for a put pilot for the show,” TV Guide reports. A “put pilot,” by the way, means NBC will likely air the pilot episode or pay huge fines to the producers if it fails to do so. The report also points out that any new projects Glover signs on for will not interfere with his work on Community, which will debut its fourth season on the same network in its new Friday time slot Oct. 19 at 8:30 pm ET.
