• George Lopez on getting the axe: “Unemployment for Latinos just got a little higher” (Video)

TBS announced yesterday that they would not be renewing George Lopez’s late night talk show Lopez Tonight. And tonight’s show – would be the last one. Not a whole lot of time. Lopez’s monologue last night was markedly more subdued than we’ve come to expect from the normally high-energy host. Even though Lopez is clearly bummed out, he still pokes fun at his soon-to-be unemployment.

“In case you didn’t hear the news, TBS has decided not to renew Lopez Tonight, but that’s alright,” Lopez told a audibly disapproving audience. “Unemployment is at an all-time high for Latinos; it just got a little higher.” Lopez added, “I did get some good news this morning, though. Sony Pictures announced that they were doing a sequel to the Smurfs movie. So, today I lost some work because I’m brown, but I also got some work because I’m blue.” Lopez voiced the character of Grouchy in the box office smash.

You can check out the full monologue here — complete with references to crack, Charlie Sheen and more — and be sure to tune in to Lopez Tonight this evening to watch the finale. Surely, there will be some surprises.
