Jason Segel, Emma Stone, Charlie Day will host Saturday Night Live

After a couple of lackluster episodes hosted by established comedy vets Ben Stiller and Anna Faris, the next few weeks offer us a fresh set of Saturday Night Live hosts. After two weeks of reruns, we’re treated to a Nov. 5 show hosted by It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Charlie Day. Day has worked alongside current SNL cast member Jason Sudeikis in a season six episode of Sunny as well as co-starring in this year’s Horrible Bosses. Day is a favorite among fans of the smash FX hit and should be interesting to see how his comedic style translates to the live sketch show. That episode’s musical guest will be Maroon 5.

The following week, Nov. 12, Emma Stone returns to hosting duty. The Superbad and Easy A star previously hosted last October and will be joined by musical guest Coldplay.

Finally, Jason Segel (pictured above) takes his first turn at hosting duties on Nov. 19. The gig will come days before the release of The Muppets, which Segel wrote and stars in. Given his work on that film, and his previous musical puppet experience in the 2008 hit Forgetting Sarah Marshall, don’t be surprised if we get a dose of singing puppets on top of the musical guest Florence + The Machine. This wouldn’t exactly be new ground for SNL as long-time fans of the show will remember, Jim Henson actually created a set of new Muppets that were featured in their own segment on the very first season of the show titled “The Land of Gorch.” The Muppets never made it past season one, but maybe Segel is the guy to bring them back right.

Here’s hoping for good hosting all around!

Erik's love of comedy was formed at a much-too-early age when he would tape hours of stand-up even though he didn't get many of the jokes. Today when not writing for Laughspin, he checks his Twitter feed and is a getter of jokes and eater of pizza.
