Right after pulling a major upset by beating out Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) and Kevin Spacey (House of Cards) for the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama category at Sunday night’s Primetime Emmys, The Newsroom actor Jeff Daniels hopped a flight to Atlanta to begin production on the long-awaited sequel, Dumb and Dumber To.
Filming began this week on the sequel that revisits the Farrelly brothers’ dimwitted characters, Lloyd Christmas (played by none other than Jim Carrey) and Harry Dunne (played by Daniels). Carrey and Daniels appear to be having a blast being reunited, evidenced by Jeff Daniels’ Twitter account, where he tweeted out a picture from on-set. He told HollywoodLife.com that he is thrilled to be working with Jim Carrey again. “The best thing about it? I get to work with a comedic genius.” Get ready for big laughs next year because the original “pales in comparison,” he goes on to say. “I can’t divulge what, but just that they’ve topped it.”
The original was released in 1994 and the sequel will likely be in theaters by late 2014, making it the perfect 20th anniversary present for fans of the original.
