On a recent episode of her podcast I Seem Fun, Jen Kirkman teased a special live show she’d be doing with Michael Ian Black—and now the details are starting to surface. And suffice it to say, we’re damn excited. Billed as Really Good Advice with Jen Kirkman and Michael Ian Black, the JASH-produced show will go down on Nov. 17 at Nerdmelt in Los Angeles at 7 pm as well as 9 pm. We hear Really Good Advice will, of course, be steeped in comedy but both Kirkman and Black will actually dispatch earnest advice during this talk show of sorts. Get your tickets here.
And both comedians, in my humble opinion, are perfect for the job. Both Kirkman and Black host insightful, hilarious podcasts; Black is a longtime author (he’s written a memoir, children’s books and more) and Kirkman released the stellar I Can Barely Take Care of Myself: Tales From A Happy Life Without Kids last year. Kirkman and Black have proven wise beyond their 40 and 43 years, respectively.
My hope is, since JASH is involved and since they’re known for cranking out quality Web series featuring the likes of Sarah Silverman, Reggie Watts, Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, that Really Good Advice turns into an ongoing thing online— or, perhaps on television. Fingers crossed!
