• Kenan Thompson and Lorne Michaels are developing a new show for NBC

For the second time this year, it’s been revealed that Saturday Night Live’s honcho Lorne Michaels plans to team up with one of the show’s major players. Following the news in August that he’s developing a family-themed series with Seth Meyers and his brother Josh, Michaels is now about to start working with Kenan Thompson.

The nine-year SNL veteran is set to write, star in and executive produce (along with Michaels) the single-camera series for NBC. Thompson would play Kenan Monroe, “a guy who gives up his New York life and moves to his in-laws’ house in the suburbs, where he must contend with three generations of problems,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Thompson has become an integral part of SNL, often starring in the most talked-about sketches each week. Watch him in action below during this season’s premiere episode with Seth MacFarlane.
