Late night talk shows are still one of the best places to get bite-sized amounts of stand-up comedy and discover new up-and-coming comedians. Of course, not all late night comics are making their TV debuts. We love it when our favorite comedians do a little stand-up before heading over to the couch!
To help you get through the final hours of your Friday workday, each week we’ll give you a recap of all the late night stand-up you may have missed.
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
Irish-bred, New York-trained stand-up Sean Finnerty made his first television appearance showcasing on The Tonight Show Friday, January 18. Finnerty reminded people that Europeans are immigrants, too, in what couldn’t be a more appropriate time. This set includes a super smart IRA joke that most Americans don’t deserve to enjoy.
Also on The Tonight Show this week was Roy Wood Jr., returning to the Jimmy Fallon’s set ahead of his new Comedy Central hourlong special. The Daily Show correspondent goes deeper than you thought was possible on the topic of firefighters. He’s right: I’ve never heard of people marching to protest racist firefighters.
Late Night with Seth Meyers
Janelle James is thrilled that it’s January in her new set on Late Night. You probably recognized James from her 15-minute set on Netflix’s The Comedy Lineup and, last year, she took over Eugene Mirman’s comedy festival and renamed it The Janelle James Comedy Festival.
Late Show with Stephen Colbert
Late Late Show with James Corden
Unlike James, Joel Kim Booster is not thrilled he has to drive since moving to Los Angeles. Coming off a Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents half-hour special, Booster has a great set with his playful personality.
Last Call with Carson Daly
Jimmy Kimmel Live!
