It was a man’s week on the late night shows—but these dudes more than paid their dues and ground their way to respect in the comedy community. The Tonight Show, Conan, and Late Late Show all featured some stand-up this week worth watching. I’ve been watching Sam Morril and Joe List for the better part of a decade in New York City. Though I’m unfamiliar with the prominent jawline of Matthew Broussard, the artist-comedian impressed me with a vast self-awareness. I won’t be asking him for stock tips anymore, but I will be watching more of his stand-up.
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
Matthew Broussard is not on The Tonight Show to tell you the wonders of playing squash—even if he looks the part. The Monday Punday artist popped by 30 Rock to tell us about his upper-class facial structure and how men can stalk his partner’s exes, too.
Late Night with Seth Meyers
Late Show with Stephen Colbert
Late Late Show with James Corden
Joe List is a favorite amongst comedy nerds. The Tuesdays with Stories co-host was on Late Late Show with James Corden this week with his typically tight, relatable jokes. Few comedians can still cover mundane topics like airplane woes like List. You’ll enjoy watching his seamless segueways and witty observations wherever you see him (but while you’re here, watch him below).
Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Sam Morril—whose Comedy Central special Positive Influence made our top 20 list—is a comedy powerhouse. Morril has been astounding the industry since his NYU days and this set on Conan is no exception. The set-up/punchline comic has a new perspective on why it’s so easy to be a man in 2019 and it has nothing to do with privilege. We also respect his nod to recently deceased comrade Kevin Barnett—Bird Luger forever!
