• Louis C.K., Zach Galifianakis FX clown comedy series is happening

Louis trophyRemember that Louis C.K./Zach Galifianakis pilot we told you about? Well, it’s happening. FX ordered 10 episodes of Baskets, a comedy series co-created by C.K., Galifianakis and showrunner Jonathan Krisel. Baskets stars the Hangover star as Chip Baskets as he pursues his dream, against all odds, to be a respected clown. Baskets, however, didn’t do so well at a prestigious clowning school in Paris and is stuck working the local rodeo. Hilarity ensues. FX executive Eric Schrier said, “To say Zach’s portrayal of the lead character Chip Baskets is hilarious/unique/riveting/fascinating would be an understatement. We can’t wait for the world to meet him.”

Baskets comes from Louis C.K., who won the Emmy for Primetime for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for Louie earlier this week, and his insanely awesome development deal at FX. His production company Pig Newton will produce the series. FX is looking to their Louie mastermind to develop more comedies for the network and its comedy channel FXX. The networks are also gearing up to launch new comedy shows The Tracy Morgan Project, Denis Leary’s Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll, Man Seeking Woman and the Billy Crystal-led series The Comedians. Baskets will film next year for a 2016 release.
