Marc Maron television pilot will premiere at the New York Television Festival

If you listen to Marc Maron’s podcast WTF (and if you don’t, then you have made some mistakes in your life and should go fix that), you know that the angsty comedian shot a pilot for a television show back in June. Well, it has been announced that the pilot episode will make its world premiere at the 2011 New York Television Festival this month.

The show, WTF, produced by Maron and Denis Leary’s production company Apostle, is based on Maron’s life as a comedian who hosts a podcast out of his garage. The pilot features Ed Asner as Maron’s father along with several comedic favorites. Community star Ken Jeong plays himself as a guest on the podcast. UCB LA’s Angela Trimbur, and New York comic Sean Patton also make appearances. The episode was directed by Academy Award-winning Luke Matheny.

The premiere will be at the SVA Theatre (333 West 23rd St.) in New York City on September 20 at 9 pm. There will be a Q&A afterwards with Maron. For more info and to buy tickets check out the NYTVF website.
