• Matthew Perry returns to NBC with new sitcom ‘Go On’

Former Friends star Matthew Perry will return to network television– and for his former employer, NBC. The network picked up his new sitcom Go On, which is being executive produced by former Friends showrunner Scott Silveri.

The single-camera show (read: the way Friends wasn’t shot) follows a charismatic sportscaster (Perry) who suffers a loss that has yet to be revealed. As a result, Perry finds himself in mandatory group therapy where he finds the support he needs in order to move on. Laura Benanti, Julie White, Suzy Nakamura, Allison Miller and Khary Payton will co-star.

Perry’s luck on television hasn’t exactly been great in the last few years. He co-created and starred in Mr. Sunshine early last year on ABC, who canceled the show after only three months on air. In 2006, Perry co-starred in Aaron Sorkin’s ensemble meta-dramedy Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, which lasted for 22 episodes on NBC. Hopefully the third time’s a charm.

It’s worth noting that both Dane Cook and Sarah Silverman also have shows in development at NBC. It’s yet to be seen if either or both will be greenlighted.
