• Meet the first two stars of Sarah Silverman’s new pilot for NBC

The casting process has begun for Sarah Silverman’s upcoming, still-untitled single-camera comedy for NBC. Harris Wittels will play Harris Wittels, a tenant in Silverman’s character’s apartment building, and June Diane Raphael is set to play Chelsea, also a tenant in the same building and Silverman’s former best friend, reports Deadline.

Wittels, who got his first major career break writing for The Sarah Silverman Program on Comedy Central, also is familiar to comedy fans as a writer on Parks and Recreation, one-third of the band Don’t Stop or We’ll Die (that’s him on drums int he video below), and a fan-favorite guest on the Comedy Bang Bang podcast. Raphael plays Piper on Adult Swim’s NTSF:SD:SUV (that’s her in red in the clip below), co-host of the How Did This Get Made? podcast with Paul Scheer and Jason Mantzoukas, and co-writer of Bride Wars with comedy partner Casey Wilson (Happy Endings).

It’s unclear whether Wittels and Raphael will have a hand in writing Silverman’s new show as well as being cast members. Either way, time in front of the camera ought to bring both of them a deal of much-deserved attention.
