If you follow Michael Che on Instagram, then you know that he doesn’t post. He almost exclusively posts text-based rants on his Instagram story (no, he still has not seen Nanette). You’ll also know that he doesn’t follow anyone. The comedian is usually an ephemeral stream of opinions and reactions. So it was surprising to see him post an actual picture Tuesday of him and Jerrod Carmichael laughing on stage with the suggestive caption, “for netflix..?🤔”

The Saturday Night Live funny man just finished emceeing the Emmys with Colin Jost, though the broadcast experienced its lowest viewership ever. His 2016 special Michael Che Matters was well-received, though Che remains a controversial figure amongst both feminist circles and Trump rallies. The New York native receives such regular backlash, he abruptly quit Twitter altogether. Carmichael, on the other hand, recently came off of directing Drew Michael’s visually radical eponymous HBO special. Also not nervous to buck the business’s norms, Carmichael announced in 2017 he was leaving his NBC sitcom before the network even cancelled it. At the moment, Jerrod is listed as a writer on an untitled Nate Bargatze TV project. Che, of course, continues to serve as head writer and Weekend Update host on Saturday Night Live‘s 44th season.
But what are Che and Carmichael up to? Is this a confirmed Netflix special? Another experimental talk show for the streaming service? Or just a comedy thirst trap? Maybe Che is just trolling us because he knows that we’ll eat up his lone Instagram post which now has nearly 10,000 likes and over 150 comments.
