• Mitch Hurwitz reveals details about the new season of Arrested Development

Although there’s no official release date for Arrested Development’s long-awaited fourth season – it’ll happen sometime in May – we’re getting increasingly more detailed information about what to expect. In an interview with USA Today, show creator Mitch Hurwitz explains the new season, which will run between 13 or 14 episodes and will be released all at once, has been tailored especially for its new home—Netflix.

In the interview, we learn that each episode will focus on one character of the Bluth family, with other characters playing smaller roles. Fun fact #1: Jason Bateman – who plays Michael Bluth – is the only actor who will appear in every episode.

Fun Fact #2: Michael Cera, who plays Michael Bluth’s son, George Michael, is now one of the show’s writers!

Fun Fact #3: The entire cast is seen only once—in the final episode, wherein a family reunion is promised. This is a reference to the Arrested Development movie, which Hurwitz plans on making. In fact, he says, the Netflix episodes will act as a setup to the feature length flick.

Hurwitz goes on to explain the main basis of the new season: “The bigger story is the family has fallen apart at the start of our show. They all went their own way, without Michael holding them together, so they’re left to their own devices, and they’re not the most successful devices.”

Fun Fact #4: Past recurring characters Henry Winkler and Liza Minnelli will return.

And get this. Despite the fact Arrested Development will exist online only, it’ll be eligible for Emmy Awards! We can’t even begin to imagine the fan-powered, social media pleas directed toward the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
