• MTV renews ‘Nikki & Sara Live’ with Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer for second season

Laughspin can confirm that Nikki & Sara Live — MTV’s live late-night chat show hosted by comedians Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer — has been renewed for a second season. Born from their incredibly popular podcast You Had to be There, the series features Glaser and Schaefer performing a monologue, interviewing celebrity guests, conducting field pieces and more. The new 12-episode order of Nikki & Sara Live, airing live every Tuesday at 11 pm ET, will begin rolling out this summer. The pair learned about the renewal during a taping of Katie Couric’s new talk show, which will air today at 3 pm (check your local listings). But, you can watch the video below.

“My favorite part of making the pilot was the writing process,” Glaser told Laughspin last June, the day MTV announced it greenlighted the series. “My career has been mostly stand-up, which is so isolating. And I didn’t know what it would be like to collaborate with a staff, but it was the best. I mean, isn’t the goal to work with your friends? That’s why I took that job in high school at Imo’s Pizza. But now I get to do what I love AND work with friends. It doesn’t get better than that.”

Glaser, originally from St. Louis, has been working the road for more than eight years, establishing herself as a respected comedy club headliner and highly sought-after act by some of the country’s best comedy festivals. Raised in Richmond, VA, Schaefer (also a stand-up) snagged two Emmys in the Creative Achievement in Interactive Media category in 2009 and 2011 for her work as head blogger for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. She’s also written for Who Wants to be a Millionaire.

To celebrate the news, let’s check out the duo’s recent interview with actress Ashley Tisdale.
