When you’re Tina Fey, red tape doesn’t exist. And that’s why NBC has ordered her latest project — a single camera series co-created by her 30 Rock co-executive producer Robert Carlock — straight to series with 13 episodes. It might not have a title yet, but it has a star– the brilliant Ellie Kemper, who played lovable Dunder Mifflin receptionist on The Office for four years. The new series will follow Kemper’s character navigating life in New York after she escapes the grasp of a “doomsday cult,” according to Deadline.
“Original voices like Tina and Robert don’t come along very often and we wanted them back on the air as soon as possible. And to have them working with Ellie Kemper — who we watched grow up on The Office from supporting player to leading actress — puts the whole package together,” says. NBC’s entertainment president Jennifer Salke. The series is expected to premiere next fall.
