Netflix has made a huge push for quality original comedy programming recently and we’re about to start enjoying the warm, squishy, hilarious fruits of their labor— in the form of Jim Jefferies’ newest stand-up comedy special Bare, which becomes available on Netflix this Friday, Aug. 29. The streaming behemoth just released a teaser for Bare and it perfectly encapsulates Jefferies. While I was none too pleased when FXX canceled his series Legit after two seasons, a new Jefferies special sure takes the sting out. Check out the teaser below and let us know in the comments section if you’ll be watching!
If Jefferies isn’t your speed, you’ll be pleased to know Netflix recently announced their upcoming slate of original stand-up comedy specials, including new hours from Chelsea Peretti, Bill Cosby, Bill Burr and, of course, Chelsea Handler who will not only debut Uganda Be Kidding Me Live on Oct. 10 but will also host her own new talk show starting in 2016.
With Chelsea Lately’s finale having aired last night, Handler is officially free of the E! network. “If I was going to continue working in this industry, I knew I had to do something outside the box to keep myself interested,” Handler has said. “I wanted to sit with the cool kids at lunch so I approached Netflix to make sure they were as cool as I thought they were, and when I confirmed my suspicions, like with any other future lover, I made my move. I’m more excited than I’ve been in awhile, and the team at Netflix is the most forward thinking, alert group I’ve sat down with in ages. No offense to the Shahs Of Sunset.”
In addition to Uganda Be Kidding Me Live and her new talk show, Handler will also create four “docu-comedy specials” next year for Netflix, which the company explains will cover subjects like politics, NASCAR, the NBA Draft and Silicon Valley.
