In what can be described as a brilliant marketing and publicity charge cloaked in original, editorial video content, Internet comedian Mark Malkoff is starting yet another quirky challenge for My Damn Channel. You may remember when he lived in Ikea for a week, or when he visited and consumed purchases from 171 Starbucks in Manhattan in 24 hours, or when he convinced 155 people to carry him 9.4 miles, or when he brought a goat into an Apple store, or when… you get the point.
Well, this time the popular comedy video site next month will premiere a new Web series called The Bill Murray Show Starring Mark Malkoff. In the series, Malkoff will appeal to Murray once a week from his apartment in Queens, NY in front of a live audience (Malkoff’s wife Christine Peel-Malkoff). “I’ve always wanted to have Bill Murray over to my apartment for dinner, and I think he’d be a fantastic house guest,” Malkoff says. “I hope he enjoys sushi and Wii bowling.”
Malkoff kicked off the series by calling Murray’s voice email during his VidCon keynote speech, and coercing thousands of audience members to shout, “Hi, Bill!” Now, you have to wonder how Malkoff will continually top himself each week. The show will run until Bill Murray grants Malkoff’s appeal and joins him and his wife for dinner. This could be a very short series or a very long one, given Murray’s unpredictable reputation.
