In a bold move that will undoubtedly spread his earthy manliness across the world, Parks and Recreation star Nick Offerman will release American Ham on Dec. 12 exclusively through Netflix. Described as a “master class in life, love, woodworking, meat eating and being a man,” American Ham finds Offerman outlining his own 10 tips for prosperity through stand-up comedy, spoken word, original music and live sketches, which will feature his wife, former Will & Grace star and Parks And Recreation guest star Megan Mullally.
Or here’s how Offerman puts it: “Fed up with abject failure? Lack of meat, cash, or fornication got you down? Refuel yourself with Nick Offerman’s 10 tips for prosperity in his chuckle-licious humor program, American Ham. Mediocre songs, ribald japes, and minor nudity guaranteed.” Laughspin caught a live Offerman show in Austin in 2012. “It was a fascinatingly bizarre, semi-experimental performance, ” Emma Kat Richardson wrote. “[It was] combination of folksy joke rock, low key diatribes on how to lead the self-actualized life, and hilarious inanities as only Offerman could, well, offer, the show left rabid Swansonities and curious newcomers alike with an insatiable appetite for all things Offerman.”
In case you haven’t followed Offerman’s career trajectory over the past few years, you should know that before he became one of television’s most beloved comedy characters on Parks and Recreation (Ron Swanson) Offerman’s been building things with his two, manly hands. Since his Hollywood success, however his Offerman Woodshop has gotten a lot more business. Offerman also released a book, Paddle Your Own Canoe, another sort-of guide to living like a real man.
To celebrate the announcement on American Ham, Offerman tweeted the below image, presumably an original creation from the Offerman Woodshop.
