• Parks And Recreation’s final season: Amy Poehler, Aubrey Plaza, Aziz Ansari will leave Pawnee after next season on NBC

Aubrey Plaza of Parks and RecreationAmy Poheler’s Leslie Knope, and the rest of the Parks & Recreation crew, will take its final bow at the end of the 2014-15 season, NBC announced. The mockumentary series, which first came on the air in 2009, was part of NBC’s then-powerful Thursday night of comedies with The Office, 30 Rock and recently-cancelled Community. The show should continue to live in syndication, having played on FXX, Esquire and WGN. The critically-acclaimed comedy had a significant drop in viewers after the first season, averaging between four and five million viewers on Thursday nights (with a slight uptick during season 3). Never seeming to break-out in ratings, it did not stop the parks department of Pawnee, ID from being a frequent attendee at the Primetime Emmy Awards, receiving 10 nominations, including four Outstanding Lead Actress nods for Poehler. She finally won a Golden Globe for her role as Knope during the 2014 Golden Globes ceremony. The show’s stellar cast includes Aubrey Plaza (pictured), Rashida Jones, Retta, Aziz Ansari, Chris Pratt and Nick Offerman. The seventh and final season will begin midseason, with no specific number of episodes being announced. The network renewed Parks & Recreation back in January when it signed Poehler to a three-year deal. Also part of the deal was the pilot order for a show she created called Old Soul, starring Orange is the New Black‘s Natasha Lyonne, which is still waiting for a series greenlight from NBC.

Another NBC comedy closing up shop at the end of next season is Parenthood. The family dramedy was awaiting either renewal or cancellation and finally received a 13-episode final sixth season over the weekend. Parenthood‘s cast includes Lauren Graham, Peter Krause and Dax Shepard.
