Party Down with Hulu: Lizzy Caplan, Adam Scott, Ken Marino and more headed to popular streaming service

In its latest spending grab, Hulu Plus has obtained exclusive streaming rights to defunct Starz comedy series Party Down. The cult comedy lasted two seasons on Starz when the network decided to not order a third season.

The show was beloved by critics and fans yet mysteriously unwatched with terrible ratings. Stars Lizzy Caplan, Jane Lynch, Adam Scott, Ken Marino and Martin Starr have gone on to star in other popular comedy series and win Primetime Emmys. The pick-up will only continue to fuel the rumors that a Party Down feature film could very well happen. “Hulu is a top destination for great, cult comedies,” said director of content acquisition at Hulu Lisa Holme. “Party Down is the perfect addition to the Hulu library. We know our viewers will enjoy watching some of their favorite actors showcasing their comedy chops in this hilarious show.”

Hulu made waves in July when it acquired a wonderful exclusive streaming deal with Matt Stone and Trey Parker for all episodes of Comedy Central’s South Park. The streaming service hopes to lure more and more new viewers with their big-name titles and series it both purchases and develops in-house, although they have not developed a popular web series as popular as Emmy-nominated Orange is the New Black or House of Cards. Beginning Friday Aug. 29, all 20 episodes will be available on the website’s paid subscription platform Hulu Plus. For a limited time, the first five episodes of the series will be up for free on
