Joining the already-stellar roster of roasters announced for the upcoming Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen, will be comedians Patrice Oneal, Amy Schumer and Jon Lovitz. In addition to those comedian types, actors William Shatner and Kate Walsh will also try their hand at verbally destroying the embattled Sheen. Oh, and what’s that? Of COURSE guitarist Slash of Guns ‘N Roses fame will make a special appearance. And you’ll be able to catch all the action when it premieres Sept. 19 at 10 pm ET.
This is especially exciting news for comedy nerds who have been following Oneal’s cringe-worthy material for the last decade or so. Earlier this year, the divisive comedian made some huge progress with Comedy Central (after a stalled 2010 pilot), as the network debuted his first hour-long stand-up comedy special, Elephant in the Room and released its uncut DVD version as well.
The Roast will be a huge career push for Schumer, too — she walked the red carpet during the Donald Trump roast but didn’t participate in the night-long tongue lashing — as the appearance comes on the heels of her impressive debut album Cutting (read our review), released by Comedy Central Records. Schumer was also named as one of 2011’s 10 Comics to Watch by Variety. Point is, she’s blowing up.
These Roast newcomers will have their fun — with the likes of Seth MacFarlane (roastmaser), Jeffrey Ross, Anthony Jeselnik, Mike Tyson, and Steve-O — this Saturday in Los Angeles when the show films. Previously announced roaster, TMZ’s Harvey Levin, has dropped out. And if you haven’t been teased thoroughly enough yet, you should probably check out some roast video promos here. Enjoy.
