• Patton Oswalt lands role in flick based on Dean Koontz books

Patton OswaltFor years now, comedian Patton Oswalt has proven himself not only an incredibly inspiring and prolific performer onstage but also a versatile actor– playing everything from depressingly hilarious neighbor on television (King of Queens), to an animated rat in a Disney blockbuster (Ratatouille) to a sports obsessed manchild in a critically respected drama (Big Fan).

And now, Variety reports the comedian has inked a deal to join the cast of Odd Thomas, a film based on suspense novelist Dean Koontz’s Odd Thomas series of books.

Oswalt is set to portray Oswald “Ozzie” P. Boone, “an eccentric artist who designs sculptures, including a steel pendant that the titular clairvoyant hero wears around his neck,” says Variety.

Willem Defoe and Addison Timlin (Californication) have also been attached to the project. According to IMDB, Tim Robbins is also rumored to be circling the flick. Production is scheduled to begin in Santa Fe, New Mexico next month.
