Patton Oswalt plays Tom Scharpling in new Ettes music video

I am a huge music nerd as well as being a comedy nerd, and The Ettes are one of my favorite bands as of late. The Tennessee band is made up of Lindsay “Coco” Hames, Maria “Poni” Silver, and Jeremy “Jem” Cohen – best. nicknames. ever. They’re fun and their sound is awesome and they, apparently, have a killer sense of humor.

Their newest album was just released on Aug 2, and this new track “Excuse” got a killer video with the help of director Tom Scharpling (The Best Show) and Patton Oswalt (my dreams, and probably your teevee) playing Scharpling in the video. The premise? The bajillion dollar budget has been wasted on Scharpling and his vices, so the audience has to use images from the storyboard along with shots of the band playing in front of a green screen, along with their imagination, to make the video happen.

I love The Ettes for doing this. And for the record, their album? It is awesome. You’ll have to get on over to Spin to catch the video. Those music nerds have the exclusive look at the video. Check it out!
