Peyton Manning Gatorade Ads Real Or Fake? ‘Sweat It To Get It’ Videos Feature Broncos Quarterback And Cam Newton Stopping Non-Sweaty Customers From Buying Sports Drink

Just last week, we showed you Peyton and Eli Manning’s hilarious sequel to their DirecTV rap commercial. But the Denver Broncos quarterback has proven to be equally as funny on his own. The latest example? A new series of Gatorade promos where the elder Manning refuses to sell the sports drink to lazy customers.

Gatorade Cam Newton

The five Peyton Manning Gatorade commercials each feature people trying to buy the drink in a gas station convenience store, only to be denied by the clerk (played by Rob Belushi, son of Jim) for not sweating enough.

And who is responsible for this “Sweat It To Get It” Gatorade policy? Store manager Peyton Manning, of course. He won’t even make exceptions for those celebrating their birthdays. Instead, he forces one lady to do yoga until she shows some back sweat.

The Peyton Manning Gatorade ads only get funnier from there. The quarterback  stares down a customer who takes a sip without breaking a sweat,  and he shows off his arm strength while tossing another non-sweaty customer’s Gatorade across the store. He even locks the freezer so only those who sweat can retrieve the drink.  Check out the rest of the “Sweat It To Get It” commercials below.

And it’s not just Peyton Manning who gives Gatorade customers a hard time in these commercials. In one “Sweat It To Get It” ad, fellow NFL quarterback Cam Newton slaps a man who tries to buy Gatorade without working out. In another, the Carolina Panthers star offers his sweat to a young patron, to no avail.

Check out both of Cam Newton’s “Sweat It To Get It” Gatorade ads below.

“Gatorade was invented to replace what athletes sweat out,”  said Brent Anderson, Executive Creative Director at TBWA\Chiat\Day Los Angeles, the agency created the “Sweat It To Get It” commercials. “So the intent was to create something that might cause someone who reaches for a Gatorade to think, ‘Hold up…have I earned this?”

These Peyton Manning Gatorade commercials were directed by Jody Hill of Eastbound & Down fame and feature 15 hidden cameras set up at a real convenience store.  Some are thus wondering if the Gatorade customers in the “Sweat It To Get It” ads were real patrons being pranked by the quarterback. But this seems unlikely. After all, as YouTube commenters pointed out, all of Manning’s supposed customers try to buy orange Gatorade, which seems like too much of a coincidence. But that does not stop these ads from being some of Manning’s funniest work yet.
