• Robert De Niro telling Jeffrey Ross’s jokes in upcoming film

Is it the return of Rupert Pupkin? Not quite! Robert De Niro may not be putting on the spiffy suit but he will return as a stand-up comic on the big screen. In Art Linson’s The Comedian, De Niro will play an insult comic reminiscent of Don Rickles. Consulting on the script was Roastmaster General Jeffrey Ross, who is a beloved part of the Comedy Central and Friars Club roasts. Ross wrote the stand-up material that will be featured in the movie. With production set to begin in New York City this Fall, maybe we’ll see De Niro popping in at the center to help get into character!
