As the fall approaches, so does the 40th season of NBC’s Saturday Night Live. The long-running sketch comedy show announced Sarah Silverman and Chris Pratt as its first couple of guest hosts. Pratt, star of the mega-blockbuster movie Guardians of the Galaxy, will host the season opener on Sept. 27. Ariana Grande will serve as SNL‘s first musical guest of the season. He delivered a whole slew of hilarious quips and quick-witted lines in the summer super hero movie. His Star Lord character served as the Robert Downey Jr. Tony Starks-type character within the group of misfit heroes. Pratt has also showed his comedic stylings in the 2013 romantic comedy Her and frequently on NBC’s Parks and Recreation.
Comedy favorite Sarah Silverman will host Saturday Night Live the following week. Although an adored veteran of the comedy world, this will be Silverman’s first time hosting SNL, although she was a cast member during the 1993-1994 season. The hosting gig marks her first appearance on the program in over 20 years! She also won an Emmy recently for her comedy special Sarah Silverman: We Are Miracles on HBO. The funny lady has shown her dramatic side recently with a stint on the second season of Showtime’s Masters of Sex. Maroon 5 will be the musical guest.
