Saturday Night Live alum Jan Hooks dead at 57, rep confirms

Jan Hooks, who was a Saturday Night Live cast member alongside Dana Carvey, Dennis Miller and Mike Myers, has died at the age of 57. Part of the iconic sketch show’s cast from 1986 to 1991, Hooks also shared the stage with late comedians Chris Farley and Phil Hartman. Though Hooks’ cause of death hasn’t yet been revealed, the comedian was reportedly dealing with a serious illness at the time her death today in New York. A rep for Hooks confirmed the news of her death but didn’t disclose the the cause.

Hooks was best known for her impressions of Sinead O’Connor, Hillary Clinton, Tammy Faye Bakker and Kathie Lee Gifford. She was also memorable alongside Nora Nunn in SNL’s recurring sketches featuring the Sweeney Sisters. She appeared on two episodes of 30 Rock in 2010, where she played the mother of Jenna Maroney (Jane Krakowski).
