• Saturday Night Live’s Michael Che joins The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Comedy Central

Michael Che joins The Daily ShowFast-tracked comedy darling Michael Che will literally ‘suit up’ to join The Daily Show with Jon Stewart in June. The Saturday Night Live writer Che is the second new hire for the Comedy Central fake news show since John Oliver left to launch Last Week Tonight on HBO. UCB alum Jordan Klepper joined The Daily Show in March. Che has been a fast-rising star in the national comedy scene, having only begun performing in 2009. Soon after starting stand-up, he was already performing at some of the top comedy clubs in the city like Caroline’s and Stand Up NY. He’s appeared on Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Seth Meyers, John Oliver’s New York Stand Up Show, and VH1’s Best Week Ever. Rolling Stone magazine named him one of the “50 funniest people” and was one of Variety’s 10 comics to watch in 2013. Che’s unique and raw perspective on life is what helped land him a half-hour special on Comedy Central due out June 6. The Daily Show seems to be adding more youthful stars to join Jessica Williams (24) as older talent like Oliver, Stephen Colbert, and Wyatt Cenac move on to bigger things. Che joins The Daily Show‘s current correspondents, which include Samantha Bee, Jordan Klepper, Jason Jones, Jessica Williams, Lewis Black, John Hodgman, Al Madrigal, Aasif Mandvi, Kristen Schaal and Larry Wilmore.
