Did you know there’s a huge presidential election going down in November? You did? Well, aren’t you just the little news junkie. How about this: Did you know tomorrow is the first ever National Voter Registration Day? You did not. Stop lying.
In honor of this special day, wherein all Americans are encouraged to register to vote (if they haven’t already; you can’t register twice, you guys), a huge list of your favorite comedians are doing their part to get the word out– thanks to HeadCount, a non-partisan voter registration organization and Rockster Productions. Each participating comedian tomorrow will post a photo of themselves holding a sign that says “Register to vote here” on their Twitter and/or Facebook feeds. Viewers will be able to click a link (like this one) and immediately get their registration on.
Participating comedians include: Stephen Colbert, George Lopez, Aziz Ansari, Craig Ferguson, Roseanne Barr, Sarah Silverman, Lewis Black, David Cross, Jeff Garlin, Jim Gaffigan, Margaret Cho, Demetri Martin, Marlon Wayans, Amy Schumer, W. Kamau Bell and the cast and writers of Totally Biased, Lisa Lampanelli, Patton Oswalt, Michael Ian Black, Rob Delaney, Gary Gulman, Jeffrey Gurian, Steve-O, Jim Norton, Mike Vecchione, Bobby Slayton, Ted Alexandro, Brad Trackman, Todd Barry, Tim Heidecker, Doug Benson, Paul F. Tompkins, Jen Kirkman, Rob Huebel, Matt Walsh, David Wain, Reggie Watts, Gary Owens, Barry Sobel and Stacey Prussman. We bolded the names of comedians that have photos below.
More than 200 celebs with a combined total of more than 100 million followers are participating in the social media campaign. If you’re already registered and want to help the cause, you can start by Tweeting this post (which features an exclusive sampling of photos below) and use the official hashtag #925NVRD.
If you want to check out all the photos – not just the comedy portion – you should check out the official Facebook page. And be sure to register to vote!
