• Stephen Colbert tells David Letterman ‘I’m going to do whatever you’ve done on Late Show’ (Video)

    Stephen Colbert talks to David LettermanDavid Letterman welcomes Stephen Colbert on Late Show tonight, which would be cause for celebration on any normal day. But tonight is even more special, since it’s Colbert’s first time on Late Show with David Letterman since being announced as Letterman’s replacement in 2015. CBS has very nicely offered the Internet a short preview of what viewers can expect tonight. In the video below, we find Colbert in a smart suit, wearing new specs! Check out those dark-rimmed glasses, a much more stylish alternative to his more business-like pair he dons for The Colbert Report. Letterman, naturally tells the Comedy Central star that he’s happy for Colbert to take over the Late Show. Letterman announced his retirement plans on April 3.

    “I’m going to do whatever you have done here. It seems to have worked.” Colbert tells Letterman, who laughs and pleads, “No, No…” To which Colbert responds: “Really, no? It seems to have gone pretty well, Dave,” later adding that he’s “thrilled and honored to be taking over for you.” For Letterman’s part, he’s happy CBS didn’t just pick some “boob” to replacement him.”Every boob is like a snowflake, Dave. Robin Roberts from Good Morning America and Kelis are also Letterman’s guests tonight on Late Show.

    Upon announcing Colbert as Letterman’s replacement on April 10, CBS president Les Moonves said of Colbert: “Stephen Colbert is one of the most inventive and respected forces on television,” said Moonves. “David Letterman’s legacy and accomplishments are an incredible source of pride for all of us here, and today’s announcement speaks to our commitment of upholding what he established for CBS in late night.” Always classy, Colbert responded, “Simply being a guest on David Letterman’s show has been a highlight of my career. I never dreamed that I would follow in his footsteps, though everyone in late night follows Dave’s lead.” He Added, “I’m thrilled and grateful that CBS chose me. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go grind a gap in my front teeth.”
